M7: Three Good Things

So today I'm going to be telling you three things that happened to me each day for 7 days, this is a form of positive psychology so that you can look back on each day and only see the happy or positive things that happened that day instead of the negative things that happened. Studies show that being more positive in life can prolong your life by stimulating parts of your brain that affect confidence, self worth, and self love. I decided to write three things about each day because I personally struggle with finding the positives in life because as a child I would always remember the negative things about myself long before I would remember the positives. This exercise has actually helped me to be a more positive person in general especially about the things that happen to me throughout my week.

Day 1: Sunday April 22
1. I got to sleep in a little more than normal because instead of having to be at work at 11 I had to be there at 11:30.
2. My coworkers and I went to Texas Roadhouse for dinner after work and it was great to talk and spend time together outside of work.
3. I got to go to bed early tonight because I got all of my homework done so I got more sleep for school tomorrow.

Day 2: Monday April 23
1. I got a good grade on my American Lit test which makes me happy because I studied really hard for that and it raised my grade.
2. I had dinner at Chili's with Baylee and really enjoyed eating and talking about life and our plans for the summer.
3. I gave a speech today in my speech class and felt like I did a good job. I didn't studder or have any major mess ups so that's good for my grade.

Day 3: Tuesday April 24
1. My chem lab got cancelled for the rest of the year starting today so that makes me really happy because usually that takes a long time and I don't get a lot of homework time on tuesday's.
2. I took a 4 hour nap today and I really needed it because we are maxing weights today.
3. I met my goals in maxing in power clean, bench, and squat today. I have room for improvement for years to come but for this year I did well.

Day 4: Wednesday April 25
1. It rained today which made me really happy, I love rain so much and love the way it makes everything smell good and it almost automatically cools everything down which feels really nice.
2. We played indoor soccer today which is always really fun and helpful. I love playing inside so much because the ball moves faster and causes you to have a better tough and faster thought process.
3. I went to Chickfila with Baylee and Cole, we got milkshakes and fries and it was super fun adn yummy especially since I wasn't having the best day and I really needed a pick me up and that milkshake was just what I needed.

Day 5: Thursday April 26
1. I got my grade back for my speech from Monday and I got a good grade. I finished both of my speech evaluations and was super productive in doing a lot of homework for upcoming assignments.
2. I had a great conversation with my mom today about my family's upcoming move this summer and the different plans we have for the summer.
3. I got to see a friend today that I haven't gotten to see in a week or so, so it was so nice to see her and catch up on life and the different things we've been up to during the week.

Day 6: Friday April 27
1. I went to the spring challenge football game today and hung out with friends while watching some guys friends play football and take pictures.
2. I went swimming with friends and that made me happy because I've been wanting to swim for a while now so it was nice to get in the pool.
3. I had to work which seems bad but I love the atmosphere at Belles and the people that I work with so it doesn't really seem like work anymore.

Day 7: Saturday April 28
1. the women's soccer team hosted a 7v7 soccer tournament today and it was really cool to see all of the kids playing soccer and having a lot of fun. It reminded me of when I was little and just getting to play for fun and for the love of the game.
2. A little girl that came into Belles with her family was so cute and would follow me around and "help" me work and hold my hand. I made me really happy and brightened up my whole day.
3. I got to meet a 5 week old great dane puppy named Mila, one of my friends just got her and we all hung out at her house and played with the puppy. Puppy therapy always helps after a long day.

It wasn't easy for me to think of three positive things each day but once I could got down 1 or 2
events the third one was easier to think of. It's a lot more difficult to be positive than a lot of people think because a lot of times we just go through the motions of our days and don't really think of anything specific that makes you particularly happy.

Comments

  1. I think you did a great job. I agree with you it is very difficult to come up with three things and that's why I didn't do this task lol but I think you did better then I would've. Overall great blog!

  2. Hey, Madelyn! I actually have a journal that I write in maybe 2-3 times a week so I can keep up with all the amazing things in my life. It has helped me tremendously to keep a positive outlook on life and to not be so down all the time. You did an amazing job at finding good things in your day no matter how little they are!
